Redskins pull a Mike Ditka, trade with Rams

After perhaps the most boring NFL Draft in 2011, the 2012 NFL Draft is already more interesting.

And it’s still more than 40 days away.

ESPN.com and FoxSports.com reported Friday night that the St. Louis Rams confirmed they agreed – in principle – to trade the No. 2 pick of the NFL Draft to the Washington Redskins. That report was confirmed by Chief Operating Officer, Kevin Demoff, Saturday.

The ‘Skins only had to give up, like, everything.

They’re giving the Rams their first- and second-round selections this year, plus first-round picks in 2013 and 2014.

Presumably, the Redskins will select Robert Griffin III with the pick.

The amazing part is the Redskins only jump four spots and doesn’t even guarantee the team that Griffin III will be available. The Indianapolis Colts have the No. 1 pick and are expected to take Andrew Luck, but that’s not set in stone. Keep in mind in 2004, Aaron Rodgers was the projected first-overall pick and the projected No. 2, Alex Smith, was taken first.
