Alarming news from the Crimson Tide Thursday as reports surfaced that Auburn point guard Varez Ward is being investigated for allegedly point shaving.
The report surfaced first on Yahoo! Sports.
Thursday Yahoo! ports cites anonymous sources saying that the FBI has been investigating the issue since late February for games against Alabama and Arkansas.
Auburn Sports Information was not talking at the time of this article – undoubtedly because their phone is ringing off the hook.
According to The Associated Press:
“Ward and guard Chris Denson were both suspended before a Feb. 25 game against Arkansas, but Denson returned for the next game. Yahoo Sports reports that Denson was questioned and cleared of wrongdoing.”
Auburn coach Tony Barbee has not released details as to why the two players were suspended.
