After CBS Sports reported that Joe Paterno had passed away at roughly 9 p.m. Eastern time, reports started surfacing that Paterno might still be battling cancer.
And would – therefore – still be alive.
As it turns out Paterno is still alive. He is still fighting cancer. And his family – according to what was posted to Twitter – was thankful for the support.
Although, the family is faced with a difficult decision.
The Washington Post reported Saturday that Paterno remained connected to a ventilator, but had let his family know that he didn’t want to be kept alive if it meant extereme measures.
The paper also said his family was weighing whether to take him off the ventilator on Sunday.
The 85-year-old Paterno has been in the hospital since Jan. 13.
