Philadelphia to host MLS All-Star game

Major League Soccer announced on Tuesday that Philadelphia will host the 2012 MLS All-Star Game.

Only, the game will be at PPL Park in Chester, Pennsylvania – 20 minutes outside Philadelphia in, what neighbors call, a less than reputable area.

While no opponent has been selected the last two years it has been Manchester United.

MLS Commissioner Don Garber cited Philadelphia’s love for soccer when explaining the decision to choose the home of the Philadelphia Union.

“Philadelphia has a deep tradition of playing and supporting soccer,” Garber said in a statement. “The huge, enthusiastic fan base of the Philadelphia Union is a great success story for Major League Soccer.”

The Union made the post-season only two years after joining the MLS back in 2010.
