The No. 1 team in the country will be without their stand-out sophomore. Syracuse will take the floor in South Bend on Saturday night without Fab Melo. Melo did not travel with the team.
The team did not say why Melo stayed in Syracuse, and did cite school policy and federal student privacy laws. That action would give the indication that the decision could be related to grades.
Melo will also miss Monday’s game.
It would be a big loss for the team if Melo is to miss the rest of the season.
He’s currently averaging 7.2 points and 5.6 rebounds per game.
Also, junior Mookie Jones has left the school for personal reasons.
