North Carolina cruises past South Carolina, 87-62

So far Harrison Barnes’ decision to return to North Carolina has been a success. He scored 21 points to help No. 1 North Carolina easily beat South Carolina 87-62 Friday Night.

UNC’s P.J. Hairston added 19 of his own and the Tar Heels won in the third round of the Las Vegas Invitational. It was a big night all around for the Tar Heels. John Henson had 18 points of his own and tallied eight rebounds in the win. Kendall Marshall finished with 14 assists, six steals and four points, and Tyler Zeller added 12 points, too.

While the Gamecocks didn’t have much to write home about, RJ Slawson led South Carolina (2-3) with career highs of 13 points and 14 rebounds – he also finished with four blocks. Daimen Leonard and Malik Cooke each had 12 points, and Anthony Gill added 10 points and six rebounds.

South Carolina will play Southern California on Saturday while it will be a battle of undefeated teams in the championship game. North Carolina (5-0) will face UNLV (6-0) on Saturday night.
