Week 6 NFL Quick Picks

Last Week: 8-5-0

Season: 38-35-4

It’s a critical week for the Philadelphia Eagles if they have any chance to salvage the remainder of the 2011 season. Week 6 presents several strong match-ups highlighted by Tom Brady and the Patriots taking on the Cowboys. We’re going to try something different this week and strictly go with my first gut instinct. Hopefully it doesn’t backfire. As always, home team in CAPITALS.

Rams (+14.5) over PACKERS
The 0.5 point swayed me. The Packers will win but I could see St. Louis keeping this game within two touchdowns.

STEELERS (-12.5) over Jaguars
Blaine Gabbert, meet the Pittsburgh defense.

Eagles (-3) over REDSKINS
I’ve picked the Eagles to cover each of the last four weeks. They’ll sucker me in to picking them one more time.

LIONS (-4) over 49ers
When the Lions and 49ers met in Week 6 of the 2010 season the two teams were a combined 1-9. They come into this game with a combined record of 9-1. What a difference a year makes. I worry about the Lions having a letdown on a short week coming off of their big Monday Night victory over Chicago. That being said, I’ll go with Detroit.

FALCONS (-3.5) over Panthers
Cam Newton is going to win one of these weeks, I just don’t think this is the week.

BENGALS (-6.5) over Colts
Andy Dalton vs. Curtis Painter. I’ll go with the rookie.

GIANTS (-3) over Bills
New York is coming off of an awful loss and will look to rebound at home against a hot Bills team.

RAVENS (-7) over Texans
I’m not sure about this pick but I’ll take a chance on Baltimore at home.

RAIDERS (-7) over Browns
There will be a ton of emotion in Oakland as they honor the late Al Davis. That emotion will carry over to the field as Oakland wins in impressive fashion.

PATRIOTS (-6) over Cowboys
New England is the better team and they’re at home.

Saints (-6.5) over BUCCANEERS
Tampa Bay is struggling right now. Things don’t get any easier with Drew Brees and the Saints offense coming to town.

Vikings (+3) over BEARS
The Vikings are better than their 1-4 record indicates and Donovan McNabb is playing at home in Chicago. Minnesota should be able to get a lot of pressure on Jay Cutler

JETS (-7) over Dolphins
Even though Miami is coming off of the bye they have major issues at quarterback. Rex Ryan’s defense will control this one.
