Oklahoma uncertain about Big 12 Network, plans to start it’s own

I’m going to need to produce a podcast about this soon because it’s getting absurd. College TV networks are becoming the craze in college athletics with the rampant restructuring that is running wild across the country. But, there is one place that is might have run into a hurdle it wasn’t ready to clear.

Oklahoma…. where the winds – and apparently the opposition to the norm – comes sweeping down the plains.

Oklahoma officials announced that they don’t understand how the proposed “Big 12 Network” would work. They made the announcement amidst the publication that schools in the Big 12 are attempting to create their own network – like the Big Ten. Oklahoma pointed to Texas’ Longhorn Network as a reason the Big 12 Network would ultimately fail.

Also, Oklahoma plans to make it’s own network.

Oklahoma University president David Boren told The Associated Press the school plans to form its own network and he was surprised the Big 12 announced the formation of a conference network. Meanwhile, Athletic Director Joe Castiglione echoed those comments and said he was also surprised.
