Plaxico Burress ready for return

It’s been a long time cometh for New York Jets wide receiver Plaxico Burress. He spent 20 months in prison thinking about what this Sunday would feel like and now it is finally here.

Only now he is playing for the crosstown Jets, not the New York Giants.

When Burress comes out of the tunnel, it will be the first time he has played a regular season football game in nearly three years.

He told reporters on Thursday his “emotions will be high.”

As Dennis Waszak of The Associated Press wrote:

Burress’ journey has taken him from the top of the game as a Super Bowl star with the Giants to a 20-month prison sentence after he accidentally shot himself in a Manhattan nightclub. The Jets gave him a second chance at his NFL career, and he insists he will make the most of it and return as one of the league’s top wide receivers.

It’s not just about Burress, though. The Jets will need his talents on the outside after Braylon Edwards moved on to San Fransisco.
