NBA owners, players meet again

Taking cues from the NFL, the NBA is giving labor negotiations some dramatic flair. Only a few weeks from the start of most NBA camps, NBA owners and players are meeting again. They aren’t talking empty-handed, though, this time both sides brought their full bargaining committees.

Both sides know progress needs to be made in order to salvage a season.

The two sides have now met four times in the past two weeks, what most are calling quality “first steps” in repairing the massive gap between the two sides in negotiations. Tuesday, the owners’ labor relations committee and the union’s executive committee rejoined for the first time since late June.

That was before the work stoppage began on July 1.
