NFL adds gameday drug testing

Steroid testing is reaching new heights in the NFL. The league will start testing players on game day for performance enhancing drugs per the new collective bargaining agreement.

The NFL will not test for recreational drugs, though.

Senior VP of law and labor policy for the NFL, Adolpho Birch, told reporters Tuesday that in the past, tests weren’t conducted on game days for “logistical issues” and not “philosophical issues” and said that the league has now enacted a way to test that won’t disrupt teams pregame processes.

Birch, according to The Associated Press, wouldn’t comment on the where the issue of random year-round testing stands with players and the league. Both sides are currently in talks over the issue as apart of the new CBA.
