Houston Texans reach out to orphaned kids

The Houston Texans plan on donating proceeds from their first preseason game-day auction to support three children orphaned and seriously injured in a car accident last month.

The Texans play the New York Jets on Aug. 15 and the money raised – by the team’s foundation that heads the auctions – will be earmarked to help 9-year-old Peter, 8-year-old Aaron and 6-year-old Willa Berry, according to The Associated Press.

The children’s parents, Joshua and Robin, were killed in a car accident while returning home from a family vacation in Colorado. Aaron and Peter are permanently paralyzed; Willa was left with several broken bones.

The Texans aren’t the only ones attempting to help. Pop star Justin Bieber helped launch a Web site telling people how to donate to the Berrys.
