2012 Olympic Games in 3-D

From one shout out, to another. Now, flimmaker Brendan Nagle might be wetting himself.

Discussions are rumored to be taking place between Panasonic and the 2012 Olympic Games in London to offer broadcasts in 3-D.

Organizers are reportedly teaming up with the TV gurus to offer live 3-D television broadcasts. So perhaps 3-D is not just a fad.

Right now, according to Manolo Romero, the managing director of Olympic Broadcasting Services, the 2012 Games are attempting to offer 3-D coverage of the opening and closing ceremonies.

But that’s not all.

Romero said at a news conference that organizers plan to distribute more than 10 hours of 3-D coverage every day.

So how far away is holographic television? That’s a question best asked by Nagle.
