Apparently, after the 17-3 loss at the hands of the Yankees, Saturday, the Orioles traded away first baseman Derrek Lee to the Pittsburgh Pirates.
The Orioles announced they sent Lee to Pittsburgh for minor-league first baseman Aaron Baker.
Lee should give the Pirates a short term boost even though the Orioles never got what they were hoping for out of Lee. Lee is currently batting .246 – his lowest BA since 1999 – and has struck out 83 times.
Baltimore says Baker will be assigned to Class A Frederick.
