In the definition of “Illegal benefits” sidestepping parking ticket payment isn’t included – but it might be soon. The woes at North Carolina continue to mound, this time in the way of overdue parking tickets.
The school released documents identifying eight football players who accumulated 317 parking tickets. No typo. Not 31 or 17. 317.
The school released a chart Friday to a handful of media outlets that linked players’ names to their license plate numbers.
But that’s not all. About a week ago, the school released other records showing some players combined for 395 citations totaling more than $13,000 between March 2007 and August 2010.
Keep in mind, former Southern California special teams player, Lonnie White, was recently vilified by some people for receiving $14,000 in benefits during his playing days.
Certainly the difference is there. On the one hand, White sold tickets for his money, on the other hand, North Carolina players simply ignored theirs.
Both ended up with a net “gain” of about the same price.
According to The Associated Press, the newest release showed the worst offender was receiver Greg Little. He had 93 tickets on multiple vehicles with nine different license plates.
