Ohio State’s troubles temporary? Fat chance

Maybe I missed something. Perhaps I wasn’t listening. Maybe I am getting older and I didn’t have the volume loud enough on the TV.

The problem is, Ohio State. They’re at it again.

The Ohio State University President, E. Gordon Gee, is either making thigns up or doesn’t understand the scope of what has happened in Columbus. He told the largest graduating class in the history of the school – roughly 9.700 students – that the problems happening at the Horseshoe with the football program is “a temporary condition.”

Temporary? You mean, like, in the grand scheme of things, right? And by grand scheme I mean from the dawn of time until now.

This problem is anything but temporary.

Unless information and allegations have changed this “temporary problem” roots itself in the foundation of college athletics at big time schools and stems all the way to the irrelevant players with no number.

It’s responsible for the suspension of a handful of players the resignation of a head coach and the defunking-to-Canada of a star quarterback.

But, sure Gee, it’s temporary. About as temporary as herpes.

And truthfully that is what you have. Collegiate sports herpes. It’s a sore you can’t get rid of and it is infecting everything it comes it touches.

Opening the graduation ceremony, Gee told alumni and supporters the university has nothing to worry about because the rich tradition and history will sustain it’s good name.

Because after all, this problem is only temporary. Unless Gee missed something…
