As expected, the Washington Nationals inked Davey Johnson as manager, three days after Jim Riggleman stunned the team by resigning.
Johnson’s hiring was officially announced Sunday but rumors of the move had been swirling for days. His first game in charge will be Monday against the Los Angeles Angels. He had been a senior adviser with the team since 2009.
He last managed in the majors in 2000.
