Jets coaches back out of NFLCA brief

One step forward means two steps back. An interesting move by the NFL Coaches Association, filing a brief to back to NFLPA*, many coaches for teams around the league are saying they were unaware of the move.

Most recently, the New York Jets’ coaching staff joined the disapproval. Jets coach Rex Ryan said he was unaware of the brief filed by the NFL Coaches Association that sided with the players against the owners.

“None of our guys knew anything about it,” Ryan said in a statement. “It kind of came out of left field on us.”

He isn’t alone. Ryan’s statement was similar to those issued by Philadelphia, Buffalo, Washington and Jacksonville.

“Nobody knew it was filed and nobody approved it being filed, so that’s where it is.”

The NFLCA filed the brief in the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on May 25. The brief said that the lockout is putting their jobs in jeopardy.
