Division II football announces TV deal

If the NFL never resolves it’s issues, Division II football is ready to fill the void. CBS Sports Network announced that it agreed to another six-game television package for 2011.

This is the sixth year that Division II football will be on CBS Sports Network – which serves nearly 100 million U.S. households.

The games will be syndicated for local and regional markets and simulcast on NCAA.com.

“Our partnership with CBS Sports Network has provided a national platform to help us tell the Division II story,” Division II Vice President Mike Racy said. “We have been able to showcase the high-level regular season competition of more than 100 Division II colleges and universities to a national audience.”

Ten teams featured in the packaged games are first-timers. Central Washington and Indiana (Pa.) were the only teams to already have TV exposure. Three of the 12 teams are 2010 NCAA Division II football tournament participants – Bloomsburg (Pa.), Colorado School of Mines and Missouri Western State.
