Vancouver Canucks advance to Stanley Cup Finals

The Vancouver Canucks are the 2010-2011 Western Conference Champions.

The Canucks advanced to the Stanley Cup Finals by defeating the San Jose Sharks 3-2 in double overtime on Tuesday evening.

Vancouver won the best-of-seven series three-games-to-one.

They will take on the winner of the Boston Bruins v. Tampa Bay Lightning series.  Boston leads the best-of-seven series three-games-to-two.

It is the first time the Canucks have made it to the Stanley Cup Finals since 1994.  Exactly 17 years ago on May 24, 1994, Vancouver defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-3 on a Greg Adams goal in double overtime to advance to the championship ground.

17 years later this version of the Canucks will look to accomplish what its predecessors could not.  Their goal is to become the first Canada team to bring home Lord Stanley’s Cup since the 1992-1993 Montreal Canadiens.
