Phillies activate Chase Utley

Chase Utley is back.

The Philadelphia Phillies have activated Utley from the disabled list. The star 2nd baseman has missed the entire 2011 season due to patella tendinitis and chondromalacia in his knee.

Utley played nine rehab games for Single A Clearwater, where he went 9 for 32 with a homer, two doubles and six strikeouts.

Utley will presumably rejoin the Phillies lineup on Monday night when the team opens a 4-game series against the Cincinnati Reds.

To make room for Utley on the 25-man roster the Phillies have optioned 2nd baseman Pete Orr to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
