Minnesota Vikings set to get new stadium

The Minnesota Vikings are on the verge of finally getting the new stadium they have been hoping for over the past several years.

At 4pm EST on Tuesday afternoon the Vikings announced that they have come to an agreement with Ramsey County on a new stadium.

Via VikingInsider.com, according to the agreement reached with Arden Hills, the retractable roof stadium will cost $884 million to build.  An additional $173 million will be needed for roadways around the stadium.

The Vikings organization will contribute $407 million to the project which is approximately 44% of the stadium costs and 39% of the overall cost of the project.

The Vikings still need to receive permission from the state of Minnesota before beginning any stadium development.  However today’s news is a major step in the right direction towards getting a new stadium in Minnesota.
