Celtics sign Carlos Arroyo

The Boston Celtics have signed point guard Carlos Arroyo to a pro-rated veteran minimum contract for the remainder of the season.

Arroyo was released by the Miami Heat earlier this week after the Heat signed veteran Mike Bibby to a contract. He averaged 5.6 points and 2 assists per game in 49 appearances with the Heat.

With Delonte West sidelined by a sprained right ankle, the Celtics were leaning on rookie Avery Bradley as the primary reserve ball handler on an overhauled second unit. Arroyo will step into the backup point guard role behind Rajon Rondo.
