UPDATE @ 11:06PM: Winter Storm Warning issued for Syracuse, NY

As if 110″ of snow wasn’t enough.

Syracuse has been issued a Winter Storm Warning. That means that heavy winter precipitation is on the way – specifically heavy snow.

The area is likely to see up to a foot of snow by Thursday morning, and it’s already started to move in. This morning, Syracuse was dusted with roughly two inches. The snow will increase as the day continues and the heaviest snow will fall tonight and into Wednesday morning.The snow will mix with sleet overnight making the morning commute treacherous. Morning commuters beware, a relatively clear driveway now may have up to five inches of snow, as well as some ice, to shovel in the morning.

By lunch-hour on Wednesday, it could be a foot deep if.

The National Weather Service is estimating between six to twn by the time the storm moves East. But, the winds will be a factor in how much lingering snowfall the area receives. The winds will start out from the East and switch around to blowing from the Northwest by Wednesday night. If conditions are right, that could set the area up for additional minor accumulations (an additional 1-3 inches) from lake-effect snowfall.

By the time the sun rises Friday morning, Syracuse could be 15 inches closer to the season-record for snowfall total.
