Miguel Cabrera NOT in Tigers camp

Detroit Tigers star 1st baseman Miguel Cabrera is not present at the team’s spring training.

According to team general manager Dave Dombrowski, Cabrera will seek medical help for alcoholism over the next several days and will not report to the team.

Dombrowksi went on to say that Cabrera has dealt with alcoholism in the past but “fell off that program.”

The team does not know when the 2010 AL MVP runner up will report to Spring Training but they do not expect his absence to drag into the regular season.

Cabrera was stopped by Florida police early Friday morning and arrested for a DUI. While being questioned by police he took a swig of alcohol from a bottle of scotch in his car.
