Heiman Trophy candidates released

The BCS Title game is still over 30 days away, but Auburn Tigers quarterback Cam Newton and Oregon Ducks running back LaMichael James will be going head-to-head a bit sooner.

The two playmakers will meet in New York. Newton and James are finalists for the Heisman Trophy.

Stanford’s Andrew Luck and Boise State’s Kellen Moore will also be in attendance.

The “scandal” for this year’s Heisman: The investigation into Newton’s pay-to-play season. A season where he’s tallied 4,000 combined yards and 48 touchdowns.

Meanwhile, James has racked up more yards and more touchdowns than anyone else.
