49ers fire Mike Singletary

The 5-10 San Francisco 49ers couldn’t even wait a week.

According to Nick Lilja, the team has fired head coach Mike Singletary. Singletary was informed of the decision after the 49ers arrived home at their practice facility following their Week 16 loss to the St. Louis Rams.

“I want to thank Mike Singletary for the passion and effort that he brought to this organization,” Team President Jed York said in a statement. “He is a tremendous person for whom I will always have great respect.”

Jim Tomsula will take over as San Francisco’s (very) interim head coach.
