Randy Moss released

NickelBlock contributor, Michael Lederer, is reporting Randy Moss was released from the Vikings. Okay, so he got the information from Michael Lombari on The NFL Network.

Either way, what a mess.

If you thought T.O. or Chad Johnson were bad. Read that article. Apparently, Moss isn’t above throwing his own tantrum. Of course, it’s not like he is trying anymore.

After the game, according to NFL.com, he said:

“I tried to prepare; tried to talk to the coaches and players about how this game was going to be played – a couple tendencies here and a couple tendencies there,” Moss said. “But the bad part about it, you have six days to prepare for a team and on (Sunday … they come over to me and say, ‘Dang, Moss, you were right about a couple plays and a couple schemes that they were going to run.’

The best part: Moss can get picked up this afternoon by the Patriots. Meaning the Pats would get a third-round pick (from the original trade) AND Randy Moss… for free.

Moss will remain on waivers for the next 24 hours as teams around the league have the option of picking him up.  The waiver system allows teams with the worst record in the NFL top priority to put in a claim and then each team is given the option of putting in a claim based on worst-to-best record.  If a team claims Moss before Wednesday’s 4pm EST deadline, they will be fully responsible for the remaining $3.38 million on his 2010 salary.  However, if Moss clears waivers the Minnesota Vikings will be fully responsible for paying him the remaining $3.38 million of his salary and the wide receiver will be free to sign with any team at any price he wants.

Teams that could be possible fits for Moss include the Dallas Cowboys, Washington Redskins, St. Louis Rams, Seattle Seahawks, Chicago Bears, Miami Dolphins, Oakland Raiders, Kansas City Chiefs, New York Jets, and New England Patriots.
