New York Islanders fire coach Scott Gordon.

Hot off the AP Wire. Islanders fire coach Scott Gordon. According to ESPN, Gordon will remain as an advisor to G.M. Garth Snow for the rest of the season.

The Islanders (4-10-3) has yet to look like the team Snow is trying to build. The team lost 5-1 to the L.A. Kings on Saturday. After the game, Gordon wasn’t happy.

“We can’t afford to give up two goals in the first five minutes of the game,” Gordon said. “Especially with the way we’re not scoring.”

The Islanders have been outscored 21-5 in November and are currently on a 10-game losing streak.

Jack Capuano will take over on an interim basis.
