Eagles-Bears ratings off the charts

According the the AP, the NFL doubleheader on Fox this past weekend averaged its highest preliminary television rating on the network in 14 years.

The early game, where the Green Bay Packers lost to the Atlanta Falcons on a last second field goal and the late game, where the Philadelphia Eagles lost to Chicago drew a 15.2 overnight rating and 28 share, the best since Week 13 of the 1996 season. The last time the Packers were in the Super Bowl.

The early window earned the highest rating for a regional game on any network this season with a 12.3/24. The national game, the Bears’ 31-26 win over the Eagles, was the highest-rated NFL game on any network this season with an 18.0/32.

Ratings represent the percentage of all homes with televisions tuned into a program. Shares represent the percentage of all homes with TVs in use at the time. Overnight ratings measure the country’s largest markets.
