Oregon looks good – on the field and the sidelines

In Eugene, College Gameday was town last week. You’d think the talk of the town would have been the Oregon Ducks Top 10 matchup with the (then No. 9) Stanford Cardinal and how many yards LaMichael James would pile up. Or if Darren Thomas would have better passing efficiency than Andrew Luck, his high school home town friend and rival.

It wasn’t.

In the days leading up to the game speculation was swirling – about what uniforms the Oregon Ducks football team would don on Saturday.

I always hear about the combinations that people love most and that almost always includes the carbon fiber helmets that the Ducks broke out against, of all teams, Portland State.

Before the Gameday crew arrived, several students at the University of Oregon also brought attention to fan’s attire. They organized a “Lights Out” at Autzen Stadium by asking that all attendees wear black. News spread fast via Facebook groups and word of mouth and I must say… the student section was pretty blacked out.

The number of Oregon Duck football tee’s, jackets, hats and sweatshirts I have might rival the possible uniform combinations held by the football team but when I heard that I needed to wear black, I obviously took the opportunity to add another to the list and living in Nike’s neighborhood made the choices endless.

Looking good and feeling good are both important. You know, the day consists of six hours of tailgating and four hours of cheering in the stands. It’s not easy. Add to that, Eugene weather. Unpredictable doesn’t begin to explain. And it definitely showcased itself Saturday – the high temperature hit the mid 70’s and brief showers around dusk.

As always, I dressed cute first and sensibly second landing on layered yellow and black tanks and a hat to match.

We are days away from a potential routing of Wazzu but it’s never too early to ask, what do you think the Ducks will wear this weekend?
