Jerry Jones speaks about Adam “Pacman” Jones

Dallas Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones’ press conference felt like a parent indirectly lecturing an adolescent about an after school scuffle.

Jones claimed to know the truth about the entire incident. He went on to explain that there was joking and jawing in the foyer of a hotel, when Adam “Pacman” Jones and his bodyguard went to the rest room a “disagreement” broke out and it became physical enough to break a “small glass” piece in the bathroom of the hotel.

Jones, in the press conference, said Pacman has “no room to wiggle.”

“He’s on a high-wire without a net.”

Jones is unsure what triggered the disagreement between Pacman and his bodyguard but said that the two were bantering and being uncomplimentary of each other and it crossed the line.

“This type of incident has happened 100-fold in the past 20 years,” Jones said.

When reporters began asking of trust issues or discipline from the team, Jones was quick to douse the flames. Though he said he was disappointed he said the Dallas Cowboys would not discipline Pacman in any way as he hadn’t broken any rules.

“I’m not frustrated,” Jones said. “I hope that we look at this as ‘is this a reason that he shouldn’t be playing.'”

Pacman has been very open to structure, even allowing Jerry Jones ot handle his finances, and open to changing his ways. Jones mentioned multiple times that he had been well liked by the support staff, hadn’t failed a drug test and up until this incident had been very responsible.

“He has agreed do to everything I have asked him to do,” he said. “He’s jumped up and done it.”

Then reporters asked if there was a list of places he was not to attend, Jones responded quickly.

“We have several pages of places.” He said. “Then there is an overriding rule, say, if its a birthday.”

This incident occurred during one of the special occasions. Jones finished the press conference by explaining, to the media and the the fans, how aware the Cowboys are of the short leash that Pacman is on.

“He, arguably for 8 months, walks the line and then messes up on the way out the door with the security guard,” Jones said.

“You need to put that in perspective.”
