August 13th: Evening practice

It was “Swap your jersey night” for the guys on the field. I snapped (but didn’t post) multiple pictures of “Brandon Hughes” that looked more like Pat Henderson and vice-versa. Fans who were in attendance probably noticed that Vic Butler lost nearly 100 pounds since Tuesday because another player (never saw who) snagged his jersey.

The evening round of practice was a lot of drills with a short team scrimmage around 7:45pm. Coach Cavanaugh continues to baffle me with his ability to use the f-word in more ways that I have heard in my many years of college. But the offensive line looks good – don’t believe the hype. Or anti-hype.

Sure, they have let a few defenders around the corner but they are going up against Vic Butler and Slade Norris. They are one of the top tandems in the Pac-10.

As far as the rest of the offense – James Rodgers broke a long TD catch in the latter portion of the scrimmage. Looked like a blown coverage by Kenyan Parker, the former WR turned CB.

Nothing too surprising there, it’s a difficult task to switch from O to D. I’m sure Brandon Hughes had some words of wisdom.

As always the picture gallery is here. With the featured photos here.
