OSU quick hit

So, I will try to keep this updated every few days OR as I get information from Beaver athletes. Check back often, though, because chances are it will be updated frequently.

A lot of people are making a fuss over Mike Riley’s comments about the Beavers contending for the Pac-10 crown this year. Some people think he is talking crazy, others think it’s so crazy it might be true.

I spoke with a few of the players today and they have me convinced. Even with the loss of Bernard and the offensive line looking weak from injury a lot of the players think that the backups will step in and contribute.

They say Ryan Pohl and Timi Oshinowo on the offensive line are guys to look out for as the summer grinds on.

As for their record….

This team does face an easier road schedule than last year with Penn State as the toughest away game. The Beavers play well at home and have snuck out with big wins, the 33-31 win over USC is the most notable.

The Beavers can easily go into the game against USC this year 2-1 or 3-0. The only hiccup may come at Penn State because it is a non-conference game, on the east coast, on national television, where Oregon State hasn’t excelled in recent years.

Even if the Beavers lose to Penn State and USC and fall to 2-2 they will easily walk through @ Utah, UW, @ WSU, ASU and @ UCLA. That puts the Beavers at 7-2 and 5-1 in the Pac-10 with three big games left.

And yes, I will break down WHY they will walk through those teams. Eventually. I have two finals tomorrow, but after that, it will be done.
