Rotation 2: Beam

On the Beam for the Beavers, Yuki Lamb, JenKesler, Laura-Ann Chong, Tasha Smith, Claire, Pierce, Jami Lanz. The Beavers look to build on their performance on the Bars. Lanz, ranked #1 in the nation on the Beam will be anchoring for the Beavers.

The Beavers finished with a 49.375 on the Beam. Yuki Lamb started things off with a very un-Yuki-like performance. She had a couple of wobbles and a fall. But the Beaver team, true to their word, reacted to the 9.075. Chong, Smith and Pierce came through with 9.875’s. After Smith’s routine, the crowd let down a rain of "boos" at the judges. Apparently, they thought she deserved a higher score, but as Sami Redmond pointed out to me, there were a few slight wobbles.

The real story was Lanz. She mounted the beam and seemed to enter gymnastic nirvana. She completed a practically flawless routine to the tune of a 9.95. There was speculation amongst the media that the judges couldn’t give a 10 this early in the meet, and that was the only reason Lanz didn’t receive a 10 for her efforts.

Now its to a bye.. followed by the Beavers to the Floor! The team score is a 98.6 and Sami Redmond is predicting a 197+ for the Beavers final team score. Stay "tuned" and find out.
