The Five 25: First Baseball Poll

Edit: This week’s poll was determined strictly by averaging the teams rankings among four national polls. Teams that were not in all the polls received a 30 for ranking, in polls they were not in. Starting this next week, I am changing the formula in order to make it a little less “average.” If this one were all me Rice and Long Beach State would probably be switched and Pepperdine would be in the top 25.

The Five 25-

1. Arizona State Sun Devils 3-0
2. Arizona Wildcats 2-1

3. North Carolina Tar Heels 3-0
4. Mississippi Rebels 3-0
5. South Carolina Gamecocks 2-1

6. Texas Longhorns 3-0
7. Vanderbilt Commodores 2-1
8. Miami, Fla. Hurricanes 3-0
9. Rice Owls 1-2
10. Michigan Wolverines 3-0
11. UCLA Bruins 1-1
12. Missouri Tigers 3-0
13. Long Beach State 49’ers 2-1

14. Wichita State Shockers 1-0

15. San Diego Toreros 1-2

16. Oregon State Beavers 1-2
17. Clemson Tigers 3-0
18. Cal State Fullerton Titans 2-1

19. Virginia Cavaliers 4-0

20. Florida State Seminoles 3-0

21. Baylor Bears 3-0
22. UC Irvine Anteaters 2-0
23. Oklahoma State Cowboys 4-0
24. Kentucky Wildcats 3-0
25. Louisville Cardinals 2-1

Also Considered: Tulane Green Wave (3-0), San Diego State Aztecs (2-1), Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (3-0), Fresno State Bulldogs (2-2), St. John’s Red Storm (2-0), Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns (2-2), Pepperdine Waves (2-1)

(Determined through averages of other polls and other factors)

  1. Miami looks a little low and North Carolina a little high. I like the Arizona Schools at 1-2 though.

Look forward to more. Nice work guys.
