Monta Ellis hospitalized

A scary moment in California.

Warriors guard Monta Ellis was sent to the hospital for further examination after he landed on the side of his head in Sunday night’s 104-103 loss to the Sacramento Kings.

Ellis was already nursing an ankle injury. He finished with seven points and four assists.

He was fouled – very hard – by DeMarcus Cousins with 1:32 remaining. He came down from a lay-up head-first and hit the floor at full speed. He was motionless for moments after the fall. Teammates helped him balance his way of the floor and he was helped to the locker room.

Warriors coach Keith Smart told CSNBayArea Ellis requested to return to the game with 3:17 to go. He made a jumper, pulled the game to a four point differential but about two minutes later would leave the game for good..

A Warriors spokesman told The Associated Press Ellis will not travel with the team. He’ll miss Monday’s game at Denver. It’s his first missed game this season.

Ellis told teammates afterward he was feeling better.
