No.3 Connecticut vs No.14 Bucknell

Special Contributor // Ian Harmand

THE MATCHUP:

Taking simple math into account, it seems that Bucknell’s ten-game winning streak trumps Uconn’s five-game sprint through the Big East Tournament. Things won’t be twice as nice for the Bisons, however, as the Huskies remain the top dogs in round one.

UConn

Fresh off a quintet of wins to capture the Big East crown, the Huskies run (or, Walk-er) into the tournament as one of the hottest teams in the country. Leading scorer Kemba Walker has been clutch all year long, but he became the quintessential go-to-guy in wins over Pitt, Syracuse and Louisville. Freshman Jeremy Lamb has emerged as a solid second option on offense, averaging just over 14 points per game during the winning streak.

Bucknell:

The Bisons took a run at five tournament teams during the regular season, earning wins over Boston University and Richmond. The tournament history is there, as Bucknell upset Kansas in 2005 and Arkansas in 2006. Mike Muscala leads the Patriot League champs in scoring at just under fifteen points per game, and the Bison own one of the nation’s best shooting percentages from beyond the arc.

In [FIVE] words or less:

What fatigue? Uconn rolls on.
