Alright, getting off the “snide” is always a great feeling. In fact, it might be the best feeling. Whether it is after a five-game losing streak in football or after mising a dozen shots in a row on the basketball court.
Getting back on track feels great.
Especially if you’re Caltech. Caltech, that set an NCAA record for 207-consecutive loses back in 2007, got off the “Snide” in a major way Tuesday night. They beat a conference opponent. They won for the first time in 310 conference games.
No typo. They failed to win three-hundred-and-ten games in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
The Beavers – they do have a mascot after all – hadn’t won a conference game since Jan. 23, 1985.
I was nine-months old.
Caltech beat Occidental College 46-45, in its season finale no less, when Ryan Elmquist hit the go-ahead free throw with 3-seconds left.
The Beavers finished the season 5-20, its best record in 15 years.
