Well, that didn’t last very long. The Cleveland Cavilers are back on the wrong track. Meanwhile, the Washington Wizards finally pulled a road win.
Wiz standouts Nick Young and John Wall scored 31 and 19 points, respectively. Wall added 14 assists and the Wizards opened a 25-point lead in the third quarter and survived a late Cleveland comeback to win on the road for the first time since April 9, 2010 (a 25-game streak) with a 115-100 final Sunday night over the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Cleveland only has two wins since the start of December.
Tom Withers of the Associate Press writes:
Antawn Jamison scored 21 and J.J. Hickson added 16 and 13 rebounds for the Cavs, who stopped their losing streak at 26 on Friday night against the Los Angeles Clippers but failed to post back-to-back wins for the second time this season.
Washington finished four losses shy of matching the league’s longest losing streak to start a season, 29 in a row by the 1992-93 Dallas Mavericks.
The Wizards came out firing. The only slip up was a missed a breakaway left-handed dunk by Wall. The Wizards a 68-46 halftime lead.
Cleveland pulled the game to 11 when Jamario Moon hit a 3-pointer, but the Wizards fought back with four quick points from Andray Blatche – and it was smooth sailing from there.
Cleveland’s Antwan Jamison was facing his former team for the first time.
