Chisero found guilty, spared jail time

The AP is reporting Dereck Chisora is in trouble in London.

“LONDON – Chisora has been found guilty of assaulting his then-girlfriend, but as spared jail ahead of his world title fight against Wladimir Klitschko. District Judge Quentin Purdy imposed a 12-week prison sentence, suspended for two years, on Chisora at City of Westminster Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

Purdy says Chisora’s behavior in May was “disgraceful and downright humiliating.”The court was told that Chisora, who has previous convictions for assault, launched the attack after finding text messages from another man on her phone.”

The Chisora-Klitschko bout features the IBF and WBO champion. The fitght is set for Dec. 11 in Mannheim, Germany. Chisora is currently undefeated.

And he isn’t the only fighter in the news for an alleged assault. The AP is also reporting:

“LAS VEGAS, NV – Boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. was ordered to stay away from his former girlfriend and their two sons after prosecutors say he hit her and threatened to beat his children if they called 911.The 33-year-old Mayweather was not required to appear at a hearing on eight misdemeanor and felony charges.

He was given a week to pay $31,000 in bail and is due back in court Jan. 24. Authorities allege Mayweather also took mobile phones belonging to Josie Harris and his sons following the Sept. 9 dispute. He faces charges of felony coercion, grand larceny and robbery, and misdemeanor domestic battery and harassment following the Sept. 9 dispute.

He could face up to 34 years in prison if convicted on all charges.”
