Quarterback Ryan Katz apparently hasn’t done enough to give Oregon State Beavers Head Coach, Mike Riley, a lot of confidence in his abilities to manage the team.
Riley has, apparently, opened the door for a competition for the starting spot. For now, Riley says that Katz is the starter, but allowed freshman Sean Mannion take most of the snaps with the first team offense.
Riley also announced that both Mannion and Katz will play Saturday at No. 8 Wisconsin. And said that the team is designing plays for both quarterbacks.
Katz did start every game last year. He finished the season with 2,401 yards passing but the Beavers finished a disappointing 5-7. He was pulled after the first half of Oregon State’s season-opening loss to Sacramento State last week.
