Husson Eagles’ home opener against the Adrian Bulldogs didn’t go quite as well as planned. The 800 fans in attendance were probably hoping the Eagles would keep the game within at least 35 points. The Bulldogs had other plans
Final score: 77-7, Adrian wins.
No, the game wasn’t played on EA Sports’ NCAA College Football ’12. Though, Husson might wish otherwise.
Husson finished the game with three-times as many punting yards as net yards offensively, two running backs that finished with negative rushing yardage and one quarterback that ended up 1-for-9 with -7 yards passing.
Adrian, on the other hand, couldn’t do wrong. The Bulldogs played three quarterbacks, all finished with a touchdown pass. The team tallied five rushing touchdowns, including three from Ce’Juwon McFerrin (all in the first half). And the offense finished with 667 net yards, averaging 8.7 yards per play.
Oh, and the Bulldogs defense sacked the Eagles six times, recovered two fumbles and snared one interception.
The score was 49-0 at the half. Some of the Bulldogs starters were pulled from the game to start the third quarter.
But that didn’t mean the fireworks were coming to an end. Bulldogs’ Shuan Hladki completed a 56-yard touchdown pass to… himself, midway through the third. By the start of the fourth, the Bulldogs were in complete cruise control, only allowing an Eagles score during garbage time.
