The Colorado Rockies have released Mike Jacobs after the 1st baseman was suspended 50-games for testing positive for human growth hormone.
Jacobs is the first athlete to test positive for HGH under the MLB’s new blood testing system as a part of the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment program.
The former major leaguer had been hitting .298/.376/.534 this year with 23 home runs and 97 RBI for Triple-A Colorado Springs, the affiliate of the Colorado RockiesĀ in the Pacific Coast League.
