Alberto Contador, three time Tour de France winner, plans to race again – despite facing a hearing that could result in doping ban
Jacinto Vidarte, Contador’s spokesperson told The Associated Press Sunday that Contador has decided to compete in the event beginning July 2 and ending one week before Contador’s hearing.
Both the International Cycling Union and World Anti-Doping Agency are challenging the Spanish cycling federation ruling that cleared him of doping at last year’s Tour.
Contador won the Tour in 2007, 2009 and 2010. He won the Giro d’Italia last month and could become the first rider to win the Tour-Giro double since Marco Pantani in 1998.
