It’s a three-peat, but not the kind you want. For the first time in his soon-to-be Hall of Fame career, Mariano Rivera blew a save three consecutive trips to the mound.
It appears the unstoppable isn’t quite the hurler he once was.
The end result was a Yankees loss to the Detroit Tigers, 5-4. Rivera, who has 643 saves, hadn’t failed to get the save in three-consecutive in his 936 relief appearances.
