Tennessee announced that the SEC’s leading receiver, Justin Hunter, has a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and will need season-ending surgery.
He landed awkwardly on his left leg after making a 12-yard grab on the first passing play of the game Saturday.
It’s a blow to a team that also suffered a 33-23 loss to SEC rival Florida.
School officials announced Hunter’s injury in a statement Sunday night. The statement mentioned the team doesn’t expect to see him until Spring Practice.
The 6-foot-4 wideout finished the year with 17 receptions for 314 yards and two touchdowns.
