Defensive end Charles Johnson is staying put. The Carolina Panthers have agreed to a six-year contract with Johnson worth a reported $72 million.
Johnson will receive a $30 million signing bonus, according to multiple sources. The team confirmed the deal Tuesday night. Johnson said he plans to sign the deal on Friday. He said he was “blown away” by the offer.
Johnson was also fielding offers from NFC South rival Atlanta and the Denver Broncos.
