Price is right for Pittsburgh Panthers

Ejuan Price is considered to be among the top football players in Western Pennsylvania. Yet, at Saturday’s Big 33 game, the Woodland Hills product still had not found a new home after de-committing from Ohio State.

On Monday, Price chose to stay close to his original home, and committed to the University of Pittsburgh.

Price, a 6-foot, 235-pound linebacker for Woodland Hills, had received multiple awards, including the aforementioned Big 33 selection, a spot in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s East Region “Fabulous 22” and finished as a second-team Class AAAA All-State selection. He had 100 tackles and 12 sacks on the season, as his Woodland Hills Wolverines went 9-4 and finished as the WPIAL section runner-up for Class AAAA. Recruiting website Rivals.com listed Price as a three-star recruit and the 19th overall prospect in the state, while Scout.com listed Price as a four-star recruit and the #14 player at his position.

Price had originally committed to the Buckeyes on National Signing Day. However, George Novak, the head coach at Woodland Hills, told the Post-Gazette that Price wanted to decommit from the Buckeyes due to the turmoil surrounding the program. The school could possibly face sanctions after the actions of former player Terrell Pryor and former head coach Jim Tressel, both of whom have left the program.

Luke Fickell, the head coach at Ohio State, granted Price a release from his original letter of intent before Price contacted Pitt’s coaches.

“Pitt is where he wants to go,” Novak said to the Post-Gazette. “Hopefully, he can get all the paperwork and get enrolled in summer classes there.”
