New Jersey Nets point guard Deron Williams will undergo surgery on Friday to remove bone fragments and scar tissue from his injured right wrist and will miss the remainder of the regular season.
The team announced in a press release that Williams underwent an MRI on Wednesday at Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan and it was determined that surgery would be needed.
Williams was acquired on February 23rd from the Utah Jazz and has played in just 12 games with the Nets. He has missed the past seven games due to the injury.
In 65 games this season Williams averaged 20.1 points and 10.3 assists per game. Since being acquired by New Jersey he averaged 15.0 points and 12.8 assists and the Nets accumulated a 4-8 record.
